Dr. Karen Matthews Earns Forward Party Endorsement, Building Momentum Ahead of June 2nd Primary
LOMA LINDA, CA - Dr. Karen Leigh Matthews’ Independent campaign for Congress in California’s 23rd District earned the endorsement of the Forward Party today, building momentum ahead of the June 2nd primary. Matthews, a Navy veteran, doctor, and small business owner, is one of the few candidates nationwide selected for this initial endorsement, signaling growing national attention around this campaign and its message.
“This endorsement reflects the momentum we’re building across this district,” said Matthews. “People are frustrated with a Congressman who isn’t getting the job done and are ready for new leadership that actually solves problems. While families are getting crushed by the cost of everything from gas to groceries, this campaign is focused on solving problems and putting people ahead of party.”
“The reality is that it doesn’t take dozens of independent voices in Congress to make a difference; it just takes a few. A small group of independent-minded leaders can help break gridlock, force real negotiation, and deliver solutions that actually improve people’s lives,” said Lindsey Drath, Forward Party CEO, in the endorsement today.
Throughout this campaign, Matthews has focused on issues like rising costs, access to healthcare, and holding both corporations and politicians accountable. This endorsement highlights how she is positioning herself as a leading challenger ahead of the June 2nd primary and a leading voice in a new generation of independent leadership in Congress.
Born in Loma Linda, Karen Matthews earned her degree in physical therapy, became a doctor, and joined the U.S. Navy, serving for 22 years. She rose through the ranks as a radiologist, preventive medicine specialist, data systems innovator, global health leader, and senior policy advisor at the Department of Health and Human Services, working at the Pentagon helping lead the Navy’s health tech modernization deliver care more efficiently and save taxpayer dollars. After leaving the Navy, Dr. Matthews started a small business to help veterans get the benefits they deserve. Dr. Matthews is now running for Congress to fix the broken status quo that has caused rising rent, higher costs, and paychecks that aren’t keeping up for families across California’s 23rd Congressional district.
